The study explores the factors contributing to drug abuse among 216 street-dwelling individuals. It reveals that factors such as reasons for drug abuse, types of drugs, age of first drug abuse, financial expenditure, style of drug use, frequency and duration of drug use, physiological problems, and post-drug effects are all significant. Family problems, Drug trafficking and disinterest in education are identified as significant factors. The study also reveals the diverse occupational backgrounds and familial circumstances of the respondents, providing insights into their street-living situations. Drug abuse significantly impacts their physical and mental health, with respiratory disorders being the most common physiological issue. Psychological effects include anxiety, agitation, and a sense of meaninglessness. The study emphasizes the need for comprehensive interventions, particularly substance abuse prevention, education, and holistic support services.
