Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy

The Journal of Knowledge Learning and Science Technology (JKLST) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and originality. We recognize the importance of safeguarding intellectual property and the ethical use of sources in scholarly work. To this end, JKLST has established a comprehensive plagiarism policy to prevent the submission and publication of plagiarized material.

Scope

This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to JKLST, including research papers, review articles, case studies, and any other scholarly work. Authors, reviewers, and editors must adhere to this policy to maintain the integrity and reputation of the journal.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the presentation of another's ideas, results, or words without proper attribution, which falsely represents them as the author's own. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Direct Plagiarism: The verbatim copying of an original source without acknowledgment.
  • Self-Plagiarism: The reuse of significant, identical, or nearly identical portions of one's own copyrighted work without citing the original source.
  • Mosaic Plagiarism (or Patchwriting): The borrowing of ideas, concepts, phrases, or language from multiple sources without proper attribution.
  • Accidental Plagiarism: The unintentional omission of citations or misquotation of sources.

Detection and Screening Process

To detect and deter plagiarism, JKLST utilizes advanced plagiarism detection tools such as CrossCheck/iThenticate and Copyscape for preliminary screening. Manuscripts found to have significant levels of plagiarism will not be considered for publication.

Procedure for Handling Plagiarism

  1. Initial Detection: If plagiarism is suspected, the editorial staff will conduct an initial review.
  2. Author Notification: Authors of manuscripts with suspected plagiarism will be contacted for clarification or to provide a rebuttal.
  3. Investigation: A more detailed investigation will be conducted if necessary, involving the editorial board and, if required, external experts.
  4. Outcome: Depending on the severity of the plagiarism, actions may include rejection of the manuscript, a ban on future submissions by the author(s), retraction of the published article, and notification to the author(s)' institutions or funding bodies.

Responsibilities of Authors

  • Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are entirely original works.
  • Proper attribution and citation must be given for all data, text, figures, and ideas borrowed from other sources.
  • Authors must disclose any related work by the authors that is in review or published elsewhere to the editors upon submission.
  • Authors should explicitly identify all sources used in the creation of their manuscript.

JKLST takes plagiarism seriously and will take appropriate measures to enforce this policy. By submitting their work to JKLST, authors agree to adhere to this policy and ensure the originality and integrity of their submissions. Our commitment to combating plagiarism underscores our dedication to promoting ethical conduct in academic publishing.
